Here's a theory:
They have added minis like Mallyx, Gwen Doll, Peacekeeper Enforcer, Confessor Dorian, Evennia, Dhuum, Polar Bear etc to the 7th year presents but the chance of getting them is the same as getting them from their respective gifts/chests.
Since that chance is really low and there aren't that many presents around it would explain why there haven't been (m)any drops.

Hmm.. I think over a couple of thousand 7yrs have been opened if no definitive evidence of such minis yet then I am going to say there are no such minis.... yet.

Like i said, there are some facts :
- many players refuse to open their gifts ( because they don't wanna be disappointed, they want to be sure there are rare minis in, etc...)
- many players didn't open the gift yet, or because they don't play( but there are as many 7th year as there were 6th year last year...)
But well, you usually, for anything, can see the tendancy in the first estimates .. If noone got a " rare " mini in the first days, either there are none, either the drop rate is very very low...

Has anyone of the permanent Kamadan AD1 citizens actually observed an increase in number of asian minis walking around?

well that can be mere coincidence cause if u take for example the number of onis been sold in kama i have sold 7 onis within the last 3-4 days and i had a thread here about a month or 2 ago showing a pic with number of onis i had. and like that i also know some ppl selling nagas they have had for sometime. so can be coincidence or maybe traders been traders who knows
and my reason for selling is i want a whole number like 10-20 dont like to be inbetween

Look to me that they've added an unlimited source for all these limited miniatures that cannot be obtained in the game anymore.
I always though that no item in the game should have a limited source. No matter how rare it is and how slow new items are created, the possibility of a certain kind of item being deleted and used up and never existing again should not exist, unless it's a bugged item, or created by an exploit.
Even for collector items like the CE miniatures I would add something like a "Digital Deluxe" update that gives the items to your account, but making them customized like the Imp summoning stone and the preorder weapons.

Rare mini supply fluctuates quite a bit. I see a lot more minis up for sale now than I normally would, but that's to be expected given the uncertainty this whole fiasco has caused. Players that don't want to take the risk of having the floor drop out from under them entirely are selling at a discount to people willing to bear the risk.
The piece of evidence that would be conclusive would be a large number of observations of rare minis outside the hands of the usual suspects. That hasn't happened yet. In the absence of that, or the second-best option of a video/screenie with the needed elements from someone the community deems trustworthy, everything's speculation right now.

Which would be fine as long as everyone was on the same page about this from the start. Every time the devs introduce additional copies of items with finite supply, it screws over the people presently holding those items. You can't call that justice; it's simply pandering to the masses.
All I ask is stable expectations, and ANet has done a remarkably poor job of providing them during this game's run.

I agree with that therory
Minis which are Anets/Guildwars normal drop/handout can drop in the 7'th birthdays presents. And there are rare minies to get here.
Minis which are handed out by other (magazines/promotions) or reprecent championship rewards dont drop in the birtsdaypresents.
So no new asian minies or pandas ect

My thoughts exactly. Just leave the issue and let things be. If there's no official confirmation from anyone, then it doesn't exist. Stop making up conspiracy theories that drive prices of our precious commodities down.

So what I understand so far is that Anet is actually mocking the 7 years old players. Apparently in their twisted minds that's like the ultimate goal for a 7 years old player : getting a mini Kirin. RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO, yeah! The hell with those panda lovers! The hell with everyone that thought about getting a mini Cynn or an EL Cynn or whatever. You're all getting mini Kirins! Ha!

It doesn't matter much now, though.
GW doesn't have a real market, since only a small collective actually bothers to trade regularly.
Those really bothered by such instability are so few that it doesn't amount to a real problem.
I expect GW2 having much less of these problems thanks to an actual trading system being added from the start.
This kind of problem would really matter, since everyone would be affected, as everyone is included in the economy via the trading system, even those that do not spend much time in cities and outposts.
By the way, I still want my Xunlai Marketplace, ANet. I won't stop wanting it until it gets added to GW1, even if the servers go down and all.

For me it's not a trading system issue but a lack of information on how things works. I know anet politics is to let players discover by themself and have the surprise. Sometimes it's fun, like looking for Nicholas on Monday, but most of the time it's frustrating, and for 7th birthday it's an epic fail !!
Imho, we should have a complete list of drops with %, the first day a present is introduced in game, in the game update log. That way everyone would know what is best for them, and not only the happy few who have connections or are better informed and who makes huge profits in limited time.
Couldn't we make a poll to know if a majority of players prefers to discover by themself or to know what's going on ? Maybe it's too late for this birthday, but that could avoid similar disappointment in the future.

Though im highly doubting it, if the minis are OLD RARE ones, this is true.
If someone gets it, people who have connections are going know it before us "normal" players do.
I dont see how hard it could be for Jhon to spend one minute for us, just telling us WHAT type of mini it is, we really dont need to know that the new minis are X,Y and Z, but he should explain it alot better.
